This past Thursday, October 10, 2013, a driver lost control of his motor vehicle and hit two other cars on May Street in Worcester, Massachusetts. The car accident occurred near Worcester State University at around 10:00 a.m.
The driver of the minivan that caused the car accident was a 41 year-old man. He was speeding in his Kia Sedona down the road and crashed into a 69 year-old woman’s Honda Accord. The impact caused her vehicle to spin out and crash into two parked vehicles on the road. The minivan continued onward after the initial crash and hit a 21 year-old college student who was walking to class. After that second crash, the operator drove off the road into some nearby bushes near the school sign.
Police sergeant Kerry Hazelhurst said it appeared as if the driver suffered a medical condition before the auto accident occurred. Investigators believe it could have been a seizure, but they have not officially concluded that to be the cause of the car accident. The van’s driver sustained non life-threatening personal injuries, and the van’s two other occupants were taken to local hospitals for observation. The other occupants were the man’s wife and daughter.
The woman in the Honda Accord and the college student did not sustain life-threatening injuries. All five people involved in the car accident are now in stable condition according to a police news release.
